The Rock & John Cena defeated The Miz & R-Truth

A hallowed institution situated at the core of the Big Apple, Madison Square Garden has bore a dynasty of cherished WWE moments – Jimmy Snuka’s steel cage-top leap, the WWE Title bout that sparked Hulkamania in 1984, The Game’s exultant return from injury in 2002 and so many more. Add to that list the night “The Most Charismatic Tag Team of All Time” came to The Mecca of Sports-Entertainment to put aside their approaching WrestleMania XXVIII dream match and instead put boots to the asses of The “Awesome Truth.” Though John Cena wasn’t exactly safe from said footwear. Big Show defeated World Heavyweight Champion Mark Henry (Disqualification)

Some may call it an act of desperation, others will remember it as a stroke of genius, but the fact remains – Mark Henry left Survivor Series with the World Heavyweight Championship. The World’s Strongest Man managed to get himself disqualified and salvage his title after a cowardly low-blow to Big Show, but Henry paid a serious price for his spineless act.

After the match, Henry tried to reinjure The World’s Largest Athlete, just as he did at Money in the Bank, but Big Show turned the tables and instead used the champion’s own tactics against him. Although he didn’t leave Madison Square Garden as World Champion, The World’s Largest Athlete indeed had the last laugh in Gotham by nearly crushing Henry’s ankle. (more…)

CM Punk vs Alberto del Rio 500x279 CM Punk def. Alberto Del Rio Survivor Series 2011
CM Punk defeated WWE Champion Alberto Del Rio (New WWE Champion)

The “Entertainment Era” begins now.

Making good on his pledge to beat WWE Champion Alberto Del Rio at Survivor Series, CM Punk became the 16th Superstar to win the coveted title in New York City’s historic Madison Square Garden after forcing The Mexican Aristocrat to submit to the Anaconda Vise. Now, The Straight Edge Superstar will have to live up to the second part of his promise — make the WWE Championship interesting again.

If Punk’s choice for his personal ring announcer was any indication, the man definitely knows what the WWE Universe wants. Recruiting WWE Hall of Famer Howard Finkel to vocally overpower Del Rio’s sniveling manservant Ricardo Rodriguez, Punk immediately thrilled the Garden faithful who fondly remembered hearing The Fink’s booming voice during some of MSG’s most classic moments. But once the excitement of the announcements subsided, it came down to two men fighting it out for one championship. (more…)

Team Barrett defeated Team Orton (Traditional Survivor Series Elimination Tag Team Match)

If there was any doubt if Wade Barrett could make a resurgence in WWE, he removed all of it inside a sold-out Madison Square Garden by leading his team to an emotional victory over Team Orton in a Traditional Survivor Series Elimination Tag Team Match.

Team Barrett went into the battle with Intercontinental Champion Cody Rhodes, Jack Swagger, Hunico and United States Champion Dolph Ziggler. Team Orton brought Sheamus, Mason Ryan, WWE Tag Team Champion Kofi Kingston and Sin Cara to the fight.

The action started with Kingston and Ziggler going toe-to-toe. When Orton was tagged in, The Viper struck instantly, quickly eliminating the United States Champion with an RKO.

But Team Orton then lost a member of its own when Sin Cara was left unable to compete after suffering a ruptured patella tendon while leaping from the ring to the arena floor. (more…)
